IMU
The last place I wanted to talk about in my first day of blogging isn't technically a place. This is because the IMU clothing line really only has a website, not a physical store. Never the less, their product is swag and can be found here. The Store really only sells IMU stuff, although they do have a pretty interesting collab with NYC good wood, but the IMU stuff more than stands on its own.
The website tells the story of David Merritt, a former U of M basketball player (Woot Woot!!! sorry I had to do it) and captain of an NCAA tournament team, who wanted to create a clothing line that made a difference. To reach that goal David put together a company that makes various shirts with an inspiring or loving message (IMU stands for I miss you) and also calls people together to do work in their communities. IMU doesn't just put out comfortable and stylish clothing, it also puts together many community service events and just cool stuff for people to do (I, for one, got to go see a free screening of "The Social Network" that IMU put together). On top of all the other great stuff about IMU, David Merritt is a really friendly and personable guy, so if you're ever in Ann Arbor during an IMU even be sure to go have a word with him and see what I'm talking about.
